I doubt wicd has anything to do with this problem, because ifconfig shows that the ra0 interface is not sending any packets whatsoever. Everyone is off downloading the awful driver from ralink etc.

Max, you receive no scan results because that is what you get when using rtusb driver, they have added support for it, but not fully supported. I've now uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times, using the patch and not using the patch, trying to copy rtsta. It is a USB device.
